Step and Repeat Banners? We’ve Got Them!

stepandrepeatStep & Repeat Banners are backdrops that feature logos, names, or individual designs that alternate and repeat throughout an expansive printing area. They are popular amongst Red Carpet Events, Venue Entrances, Upscale Parties, Celebrity Appearances and all celebrations.

Step and Repeat Banners are printed in full color on one side of 15 oz. matte vinyl block out material which eliminates all obstructing glare, allowing for ultimate promotion and immaculate photography. Sizes range from 8′ x 8′ to 12′ x 8′. They are built to stand up to the elements, though they do wear with time. We offer a variety of finishing options, including hemming, grommets, and pole pockets.  The most common order options are 8′ x 8′ on 15 oz. Vinyl, finished with hemming and grommets every 2 feet. Step and Repeat stands are available for free-standing banners.

New Year, New Calendar!

2015CalendarWelcome 2015!
Download your mini calendar today!

We have reached 2015, the year that Marty McFly visited in “Back to the Future, Part II.”  It’s always interesting to imagine what the future might hold, and it’s often fun to look back at how the future was predicted in science fiction books and movies such as George Orwell’s 1984, or Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

Will the Cubbies actually “sweep the series in 5” this year? Only time will tell. Opening day is Sunday, April 5, 2015 (sorry you local Chicagoans, no skipping school on this day). Be sure to circle this important date on your 2015 Calendar download. (40offset.com customers received their calendar in the mail. Create your account today, and we will mail one to you too!).

Our best wishes for a happy and healthy 2015!

You can become more efficient by using keyboard shortcuts!

If you spend a lot of time in front of a screen working on print files, learning a few basic keyboard shortcuts can save you oodles of time.  Using keyboard shortcuts can not only make you more productive, but it can also make you more efficient! The mantra is “work smarter, not harder!”

redeyeMany of the Adobe Photoshop key commands are intuitive, such as striking M to select the Marquis too, E for the eraser tool, or B for brushes. Some are a bit more obscure, such as striking V for the Arrow tool (well, maybe the V could be considered an arrowhead?), or J for the red-eye tool.

Watch this short video from About.com to learn more.

Market your products with POP (Point of Purchase) Displays

POP DisplaysPoint-of-Purchase (POP) displays are most often used to provide information in large format within a business environment. POP displays are also specifically designed and strategically placed in retail stores for marketing a product or service. POP Displays can be used as signage too, for display graphics in seminars and presentations, courtroom exhibits, or anyplace else where rigid graphics are desired.

Consider adding a QR code to your design to link directly to additional online information. This can be a great way to provide more detail than you would want to cram onto your display. Since a QR code can link to an online message, you can change the online message without the need to reprint the QR code.

We offer three substrates that are ideal for this type of advertising. These inexpensive substrates come in 3/16″ thickness to fit in most display stands.

Retouching Fly-away Hair in Photoshop

frizzIf you’ve struggled with retouching fly-away hair in Photoshop, this tutorial from Daniel Sone at Tuts+ may help. Daniel demonstrates three techniques using:

  1. Clone Stamp tool
  2. Healing Brush tool
  3. Surface Blur

Surface Blur is a tool that “considers something an ‘edge’ when there is a significant change in color and/or contrast. So, things like skin, clothing, and other fine details will be smoothed, but not the edge of someone’s face — or the main mass of hair.”
